Facebook unveils new corporate logo

Facebook is dropping its iconic blue logo from its corporate marks.

Facebook Inc. has introduced its new logo to reflect the wider Facebook group now that the social media giant controls a lot of other websites and services under its umbrella aside from its legacy brand Facebook.

The new logo uses custom typography and capitalization. Facebook said it was designed to distinguish Facebook as a group from Facebook’s flagship namesake app. The new logo posted on Facebook's blog site shows a typography that flashes different colors. This could mean that Facebook has not taken a definite color mark for its new identity.

In a blog post announcing the new brand logo, Facebook’s Chief Marketing Officer Antonio Lucio said the change comes about 15 years after Facebook launched as a single app.

“We’re updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook. We’re introducing a new company logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding,” Lucio said.

Currently, Facebook offers a number of apps and website service to customers worldwide such as Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra.

Facebook said it is set to launch a new corporate website soon.
